Coalition by Generative Artworks

Departing from generative arts focus on the size and variety of algorithmic outputs, Coalition contains just 36 geometric creations. Every mint is composed of unique combinations of line, shape, and color, making them artworks unto themselves. However, just as significant as the individual mints is the larger series of which they are each a part. When viewed collectively as a 6x6 grid, the 36 tokens make up a larger, single artwork, the titular Coalition. Patterns and palettes that exist across different tokens come together seamlessly in the Coalition, allowing users to recognize their mint as an indispensable element of the coherent whole.

By highlighting the inextricable relationship between the single set and its 36 components, Coalition suggests that storytelling must play a vital role in the future of generative art. The mediums current emphasis on long-form algorithmic exploration has come at the expense of narrative craft. While long-form algorithmic exploration has produced groundbreaking artwork and will continue to do so, our project urges practitioners and collectors to consider generative arts capabilities outside of replicating the look of analog media. Instead of attempting a mimesis of old modes of production, Coalition foregrounds the stories about human experience that emerge when artists free their code from the burden of replicating paint and paper. We ask, does the art in generative art refer to the algorithm, or the outputs?

To encourage artists and collectors to value storytelling and limitation in their NFTs, Coalition doubles as performance art. While the set is limited to 36 mints, a 37th is available for purchase. The collector who buys the final token will find only an error message. The algorithm self-destructs after mint #35. Liquid Ruminations by Eliya Stein

Liquid Ruminations is an algorithm inspired by the contemplative effect of moving water.

Unique invocations of this algorithm consist of any number of several core components including waves that rise and fall, a flow field powered mist, and droplet shapes arranged in a dancing field that are distorted in a rhythmic, sometimes stormy animation.

These effects are combined and brought to life with mathematical wave functions in order to create movement that is ideally conducive to a meditative state. Viewers are encouraged to take the opportunity to reflect on precious things that we tend to take for granted, primarily easy access to clean water.

The outputs of this algorithm are interactive:

You may toggle a "Liquify" mode on and off by double-clicking the invocations.

Spacebar pauses the animation.

"s" key saves a local screenshot.

"r" key reloads the piece.

Please note: This project is very CPU intensive and performs best at moderate resolutions on modern desktop devices. Chrome will provide the best experience. Full screen recommended.

Primary and secondary sales proceeds from this project will be donated to Water.org - an important organization with the critical mission of providing affordable access to safe water to people around the globe.

Warp by espina

Our lives are patterns of the fabric produced by the loom of time and space (Shohaku Okumura). Looms and computers share a history of entanglement, weaving together patterns of binary code. Warp is a work of generative textiles. Modulations of form are woven to create intricate structures, stretching the metaphor of a loom. 25% of artists proceeds will be donated to Alianza Arkana, a grassroots alliance committed to the protection and well-being of the Peruvian Amazon and the Shipibo-Konibo peoples.
