To hold the reins, to wield the sky,
And shape the world with their decree,
A game of thrones, but bloodlessly.
But on the ground, a different fate,
Where soldiers bear the heavy weight,
Of duty, honour, sacrifice,
On battlefields, they pay the price.
In halls of power, a war of words,
While soldiers face the clash of swords,
A world of shadows, painted bright,
Against the darkness of the night.
In halls of power, they make the call,
While soldiers stand to give their all,
And when the war is finally won,
Soldiers who stand are left undone.
In halls of power, the game goes on,
While soldiers' stories, oft' unknown,
Unknown sacrifices made for our sake,
May we honour them, and never forsake.
