The Psychotron is a mesmerising video collection by Doug Foster, consisting of 5 different sequences that invite its viewers into meditative state of minds. The series is made up of 4 editions + 1 Artist's Proof.

For centuries, circular figures containing symmetrical patterns have been used as a tool for meditation. The mandala, the yantra and symbols for the various chakras, all conform to
radial design principles that have been refined throughout the ages. Taking inspiration from those examples, The Psychotron is derived from Foster's large scale digital film installation of the same name which is a ceiling mounted kaleidoscope of liquid light that engulfs its recumbent audience, who lie on a circular platform that is upholstered with soft artificial grass. It was originally shown at Lazarides 2012 Bedlam exhibition in The Old Vic Tunnels and also made an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in 2014.

This new version of the film has been remastered in 4K, reworked to fit a widescreen
frame and divided into five equal parts.
