Devil's Gold

Venturing into the heart of Mount Ijen's inferno, the sulfur miners embark on a perilous journey for the so-called Devils Gold. 

With the lakes water level rising considerably in recent months, these intrepid souls must navigate the worlds most acidic lake on makeshift rafts to access otherwise inaccessible corners of the mine, a hazardous journey that exemplifies the extremes they endure.

The lake's water adds an additional layer of complexity to the miners' task. Any minor misstep, including inadvertent inhalation of this chemically charged water, could have severe consequences. The volatile nature of the environment underscores the gravity of their mission, emphasizing the high stakes and constant vigilance required in the face of such conditions. 

Amidst the surreal turquoise water and billowing sulfuric fumes, the miners display resilience and camaraderie as they confront the fury and magnificence of Mount Ijen.
