Effects of War by Lina Chu

More than 18 million people have crossed the border escaping war Russia brought to Ukraine in February 2022.

Some had their emergency backpacks ready and fled in the first days of the full scale invasion, with sounds of missile explosions, enemy tanks and helicopters on the background.

Some had minutes to pack their valuables and hop on a bus heading west, leaving everything behind: their belongings, their jobs, their home, their life - life before February 24, 2022.

Roughly 10 million have since returned to Ukraine.

However, many have nowhere to return.

About the artist:  
Lina Chu is a Ukrainian-Vietnamese travel and documentary photographer, based in Lviv, Ukraine.  
Photography is her tool in exploring and making sense of the world around her. Since 2022, she has been focusing her attention from capturing her travel adventures to showing the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war on people's lives through her conceptual-documentary work.
