Ouroboros: The Burning by Blake Kathryn

At the very first moment life crawled out from the pit, they felt her presence. The silent sound of night that pushed them toward the stars. Staring up at her twinkling abyss, they craved her peaceful silence. In the rotating halls of the space station Nihilium, they plunged further into the dark to reveal her. In the hush of space, they heard a whisper, and went mad at her call. Nihilium became an absurd, mobile research facility, testing the laws of physics in a twisted desire to tear at the fabric of existence. Through the vast, inky-black void, they sought to blot out the sea of starlight and bring the whole of existence back to her endless night. Generations came and went without seeing so much as a trace of her, but that made them love her all the more. But soon enough they all learn the truth, right when they cant share it. There is no need to chase death. She was there at the beginning of everything, and she will be there waiting at the very end.
