I recently moved to Mexico after spending my entire life in New York City. I am a life-long cyclist and have always had a hunger for exploration. This photograph represents the very beginning of my new life of adventure on two wheels here. 

This ride took me across a wild and remote part of the Chichinautzin Volcanic Field. The climb up was off-road (tierra) all the way up and around Volcn Tlloc from the chinampas of Xochimilco and fields of Valle de Chalco. 

This is extremely significant accomplishment for me being one of my first big solo missions on a bike since living here. The Web3 space has taken a serious toll on my mental and physical health and i"ve caught myself drifting away from what feeds my soul. I am re-claiming my power and connection nature and working to become my best self in my 30th year of life. This ride is a beautiful marker of the fruit that life can bear if we follow the truth in our heart and push the limits of what we believe may be possible.

fun fact - i recently asked another cyclist, Poli, a D.F. native: "Do you ever count the dogs you see on rides". She answered no. Therefore, i started doing so. This is the first ride i started counting stray dogs in the barrios and mountains.  I counted over 80 dogs on this ride.

Mexico City encroaches onto the massive Chichinautzin volcanic field, which covers a broad 1,000 square kilometer area immediately south of the city. The Sierra Chichinautzin, formed primarily of overlapping small cinder cones and shield volcanoes. This creates a broad topographic barrier at the southern end of the Basin of Mexico that extends from the eastern flank of Nevado de Toluca to the western flank of Iztacchuatl y Popocatpetl. The volcanic field contains more than 220 Pleistocene-to-Holocene age monogenetic vents.
