Chapter 1: Roots

It is difficult to understand ourselves without understanding our environment, where we come from, where we are from. What connects us to our communities, to our family, but more important than that... what connects us as human beings.

We live different lives, in different countries, we speak different languages and we have different cultures, but it is enough to go back a few thousand years to understand that we are not so different. We share common ancestors, we have common genetic material, we are composed of the same chemical components. We are connected to each other and being aware of this, we understand that we affect (positively or negatively) the lives of the rest, our decisions can define the future as we did not imagine.

The most poetic of this, that what unites us, not only unites us as humans, it connects us with all life on earth and even beyond. Because our chemical composition is the same as that of the stars. The carbon in your body, the calcium in your bones, the iron in your blood were created in the heart of a star...everything is connected, we are star dust.
