Flatiron Building New York + Marilyn Monroe 

The Flatiron Building in New York City causes strong and unpredictable wind gusts in its surrounding area due to its unique triangular shape. The winds are known to have raised women's skirts and scattered papers from pedestrians' pockets, giving rise to the phrase "23 skidoo" allegedly shouted by policemen. 

The Marilyn Monroe subway photo, taken in 1954 by photographer Sam Shaw for the movie The Seven Year Itch, is an iconic image of American pop culture. Monroe's pose, with her white dress billowing up, remains one of the most recognized and celebrated images in film history.
