the elysians

There was a man on a long walk outside of his village, reflecting on the way of his people. He had always been somewhat of a hermit, consistently too occupied by his thoughts to properly partake in his community. Today, his villages chieftain had put a man to death who could not pay the monthly tithe, and he seemed to be the only one upset by this.

On this walk, the man caught a glimpse on a being seeming to be made of pure onyx resting in a field. The man was terrified, and knew not where this creature came from. As he turned to run, the being rose, smiling brilliantly with the radiance of a thousand suns. The man crumbled to his knees, as the utterly horrifying beauty of this creature consumed his mind.

Be not afraid, the angel raphael said. You have treated your fellow man with grace, and you and your people will be saved in the divine fire to come. There are demons inside of all men, and it must be your duty to spread understanding of these demons to your fellow man. Go now, and teach them to live their lives peacefully and in full comfort of one another, with no inner walls to keep you apart from your fellow man.

The angel rose, and in a moment of pure eclipse, disappeared from the mans view. And he ran, and ran, and ran, fleeing into the farthest corners of the world to spread the will of the angel.
