Saint Anthony's Fire by Joey Miller

To me, water has always represented the unexplored. With this piece I wanted to capture the feeling of watching others disappear into adulthood as they took on the world, while I felt very trapped in my situation as a teenager. During this time, sending my artwork to a gallery or contest was the equivalent of me sending a vessel of myself out to explore and see what I was missing. A small part of me was carried to those places that I couldnt bring myself to because of how I felt mentally. After I lost my closest friend at the time, I realized that I couldnt just watch life from the shore and that I had to venture out past the fog and wade into the waters just like the others.
