Helen of Troy was born into a royal family in Greece. She was married off to King Menelaus of Sparta in an attempt to create a peaceful alliance between the two countries. However, her husband"s political enemies, the Trojans, kidnapped her and took her back to their city. This caused a great war between Greece and Troy which Helen"s former husband led. After ten years of fighting, the Greeks finally won, thanks in large part to Helen"s trickery. She lured the Trojan prince, Paris, into her bedchamber and then snuck him out of the city while he slept. This allowed the Greek troops to sneak into Troy and win the war. Following the war, Helen returned to Sparta where she lived out her days in peace.
