but i listen for your scream when its quiet in my head 
paralyzed by emptiness that isnt my own  
haunted by the same ghost  
gasping at your demons appearing in my nightmares

trying to hold you is like embracing the air  
abysmally empty yet vitally necessary

theres no mediation or conversation  
in a room shared with grief  
i guess thats what they mean by 
threes company  
reap what you sow but what was reaped stunted our growth  
laying on the grave of a man ill never know

mourning love ungroomed  
pruning a garden of flowers unbloomed

reminders of life not lived  
fights unforgiven  
amends not given  
roads untraveled; not even one less taken

whatever is gone is hopelessly gone  
whatever is new may never stick

the time we spent walking
