Kingyo in the Park

Today, I heard Virginia Woolf's voice for the first time and realized that we had been ignoring the quality of her tone and vocal texture in our memory of her. Before, I had always imagined her voice based on her face and her writing. But when I heard her actual voice, I realized that her personality was even more composed than I had imagined.

Since I started listening to podcasts, I have always imagined what the hosts look like based on their tone of voice and the pauses in their speech, and the subtle facial expressions that often accompany their words. I enjoy this kind of imagining, but I can't help but go to other social media to find their pictures to confirm my imagination.

However, none of this is real. I have only been listening to and looking at false things that have already separated from reality. Only the real thing is real.
