Last Pick hovers around the idea of being an outcast. The feeling of being left out of the group is part of life, and some of us have dealt with it from early on. Here my aim is to bring the viewer to that emotion. A cluster of shapes, the open space and the lonely shape alone to the side.

Malecn is an expressive painting aimed at capturing the classic ocean drive where the water meets land and cement leads to sand. An offbeat palette vibrates with the complementary colors of blue and orange coming together to create a contemporary glimpse of the local beachside.

Mind Cleanse is a pivotal piece in my work, incorporating figurative elements into my established series of Accumulations. The process is liberating in the sense that I basically let my mind go off in different directions thinking of objects that somehow tie into each other. The result is a vibrant juxtapositioning of elements with individual color schemes that are associated with the object. 
 
 There is something about these pieces that makes me enjoy the process of building. Every day adds new life and every object brings a new one to mind. (The physical painting is in my studio and will not appear online.)

Mind Cleanse

As I worked this piece there was a preconceived idea lingering in my mind that had to do with the design and basic structure of the Lunar Module used to land on the moon. As a child, I repeatedly drew this craft and was bewildered by its awkward yet forward design. What followed was this abstract rendition, loosely drawn with black on red.

Module

A quick look at the morning light that fills the landscape as the sun shows its face. Commonly referred to as the magic hour by cinematographers and photographers, it's a window of time when the light quality is perfect as nature gives us the world's largest bank light. My experience in advertising holds these instances close to my heart. Morning Light is an ode to the moment.

Morning Light

Morpheus is one of a series of tondos I have produced in past years, drawing from Greek mythology the son of Hypnos, the god of sleep. A popular saying on Puerto Rico that mentions I'm leaving with Morpheus means you're heading to sleep. The image presents us with a head type figuration full of complicated shapes grouped together. Since I was young, I always used the cartoon bubble to write in text to help explain the ideas in my drawings. Something that has passed on through the years... I did several paintings in the same context where I illustrated with a frenzy of scribbles what thoughts could look like. These floating gestural scribbles represent how I view brain activity and thoughts. My Thoughts

I paint what I see and feel. After 20 years plus of absorbing the sights and sounds around the studio, the work begins to reflect my experience. The morning fog, the sun light shimmering through the trees, the endless greens are all part of my habitat. Translated it refers to that moment where the day begins, engulfed in the lakeside morning fog. The dew glistens in the grass splashing as I walk to the water"s edge. The sun has washed the grass of its lush green. Yellow floods the field. Niebla y Rocio

That feeling of intense admiration becomes reality when you"re in the presence. This piece aims to capture that precise instance where you are head over heels. An overall sense of FEEL GOOD and achievement. The unforgettable encounter. Starstruck. Patidifusx

One in a series of pieces using geometric composition to create spatial relationships. A hypnotic image that plays with the idea of deception and breaking away from the expected. The white shape establishes a point where it rises in front of the black maze breaking the order.

Punta Punto Engao

An entangled mesh serves as a protective housing. An exercise to capture the internal components and engineering of a performance vehicle was the starting point for this piece. Done in a favored color combination using black on yellow the housing seems to be suspended in the middle of the composition.

Roll Cage

A state of mind... confusion, frustration and helplessness combine for what is behind this piece. Layers of frenzied strokes and spontaneous uncontrolled drawing give the painting a sense of depth. A cage of mangled bars encloses the spirit. The gestural aspect in the work is always an integral part of my abstracts, an expressive shoutout to the viewer.

Here"s an abstract piece done on raw canvas, a frenzied complicated drawing that poured out of me as the music guided my hand throughout the picture plane, oftentimes the way I begin my abstract works. The blank canvas staring back at me as prepare for a new routine. The mark is familiar, I"ve done this many times, yet they are all different as they capture a particular instant tied to a favorite jazz passage. After this initial session I have to take a break, sometimes falling asleep, this outpour of energy tires me physically. Going back into the painting I select a color palette that is signature to my work... filling in the blanks and establishing a dividing plane of yellows, shielding one side from the other.
