Evolving Pixels is an exhibition centered around the theme of growth. The show invites a set of diverse digital artists who work with computational technologiesnamely, generative or AI-assistedto investigate what growth means to them. 

PROOF has partnered with Art Blocks and Venus Over Manhattan to bring Evolving Pixels to life. The long-form generative collections in the exhibition are being delivered with the Art Blocks Engine. From April 12-24, Venus Over Manhattan will display Evolving Pixels at their Soho gallery in New York City.

PROOF Curated: Evolving Pixels

**"aaa"** is a generative art system inspired by abstract artists such as *Jackson Pollock*, *Brice Marden*, and *Kazimir Malevich*. Abstract art appeals to me over other forms because it compels the viewer to use their imagination. You could argue that this art form is like a mirror, a pieces perception being reflective of its observer. Similar to how red can symbolize anger, love, and danger. An abstract piece can evoke a multitude of feelings. I believe this to be a unique value of abstract art.

While a human can choose a colour to communicate a feeling, a machine lacks the cognitive ability to do so. Therefore, the program uses randomized probabilities in an attempt to create a wide array of styles. I have taken reference from the drawing styles of *K Malevich*, *Piet Mondrian*, *Brice Marden*, and *Joan Mitchell*. The styles demonstrated by these artists range from symmetric to loose and erratic, combined with 32 colour palettes compiled through experimentation and inspiration.

"Memorias del espacio olvidado" es un proyecto de arte generativo que explora relacin entre el crecimiento de la naturaleza en la arquitectura de los edificios antiguos o las grandes estructuras arquitectnicas que han sido abandonadas en la ciudad para representar el crecimiento humano desde diferentes aspectos. 

A travs de Memorias del espacio olvidado el artista busca hacer una comparacin entre este comportamiento de crecimiento de la naturaleza con situaciones que enfrentamos los humanos todos los das y que nos hacen seguir adelante. 

Al igual que las plantas se adaptan al ambiente en el que crecen, los seres humanos tambin tenemos la capacidad de adaptarnos a diferentes situaciones y circunstancias en nuestras vidas, lo que nos permite crecer.
 
La naturaleza crece a su propio ritmo y no compite con la arquitectura, nosotros tambin tenemos nuestro propio ritmo de crecimiento y no debemos compararnos o sentirnos presionados con ciertas expectativas. 

Ambos crecimientos pueden ser vistos como procesos de renovacin y de regeneracin que permiten que la vida contine y se adapte a los cambios constantes del entorno. 

El crecimiento de la naturaleza en los espacios olvidados de las ciudades es una fuente de inspiracin para el crecimiento humano en diferentes aspectos de la vida.

Welcome to NeuralBricolage"s veGAN Grande Finale, a hundred and one new unique latenttuce cultivars, this time grown on generative geometric grids to provide a framework for their growth. The latenttuce project has started more than 4 years ago with the main goal to present humble and familiar vegetables afresh as unfamiliar and stunning. But oftentimes while pretty, salad leaves cant stand on their own aesthetically - to show off their quiet organic beauty I contrasted it with the geometry of a grid adding it also as a metaphor for synergetic growth. As always, these cultivars are sourced from the NeuralBricolage terroir, ensuring their unique origin and quality. Enjoy the last harvest season!

 is a series of generative artworks inspired by Ernst Haeckels illuminating illustrations on biological evolutions. Combining the visual language of microscopic organisms and flowers, the Lycorises artworks aim to represent the intricacies of life and how it constantly evolves.  
Each color palette reflects the unique structure of  specifically evolved in its environments, including the volcano, alien desert, or cyberspace.  These environments encouraged the growth of characteristic features, such as spikes, feathers, and leaves, that protect the Lycoris seed.

I've been fascinated with the idea of using the Computer to visually enumerate all possible states in a system. Typically, a long-form art collection has 100s of mints, chosen from billions of billions of possible outputs. However, it is totally possible and (in my opinion) fascinating to explore much more constrained systems, ones where we can express and appreciate each item of the enumeration in the context of all possible outputs.

This series, "7 Factorial", represents one of the simplest possible enumerations, namely all of the ways to permute (order) a set of items. The permutations are drawn as sorting networks, visualizing each permutation as the displacement of its constituent elements. With 7 items, there are 5040 possible permutations. Yet despite such a simple formulation, the range of outputs is both surprising and beautiful.

In celebration of this minimal, structured, yet spontaneously-arising diversity of forms, each of the 19 mints available in 7 Factorial will be a randomly chosen permutation of 5040. To properly appreciate the full parameter space, and contextualize each of the 19 chosen mints within it, each minter will later be airdropped the full 5040 permutations with the 19 realized editions highlighted.

Growth is often found at the furthest ends of the emotional scale. Here, with 75 curated outputs, the Computer attempts to translate an array of emotional states using a flow of colour.

These slices of emotion play out on the canvas like musical notes. Sometimes they appear free flowing and long lasting, while at other times fractured and interrupted. Viewers are invited to relate these scales of colour with moments from their own experiences.

This system pays homage to the Atmospheric Effects series by Alma Thomas.
