There hasn't been anything quite as impactful on my photography journey as the silence I find in the mountains. In a world driven by notifications and noise, the search for silence requires a lot of effort, but this effort is fruitful, for when you find this silence, you're forced to confront your inner monologue. It creates a conversation with the self. 

This image is from a summer spent pushing my limits in the back country of Washington. During that season, I climbed countless miles navigating dangerous terrain in search of scenes that would leave me awestruck. This is where I find nirvana and hope to inspire others to seek the same feeling of bliss through my film photography.

The line that really struck a chord with me every time I read this book, would have to be this one from the chapter of Law of Detachment:  Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown and experience all the fun, mystery and magic of what may occur in the field of all possibilities.

In creating this artwork, I was most influenced by the discussion in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success of the heart-based decisions of an individual as part of a natural flow towards a goal that is beneficial to oneself and the wider society. The choice of LOGIK as my art name is based on decision-making, and my art practice from the start has been predicated on uplifting and speaking the truth of my culture. To achieve the knowledge necessary to bring success to myself and my community, I had to maintain my personal long-term vision in the face of many naysayers who wanted me to fit into the standard mold. Those who lack an open mind and are stuck in their ways  whether in corporate America or local communities  maintain the status quo and stifle the flow of progress. The trope of an angel and a devil on ones shoulders refers to how our choices are subconsciously influenced; when guided by karma, spontaneous right action occurs even beyond rational thought.

The original cover is actually what sparked the creativeness for my own. I knew I wanted to pay homage to it in some way, and before I began reading, I stared at the original tree and really just allowed my mind to wonder for a while. I thought about why that original decision was made, and how the tree could tie into the seven spiritual laws: its relation to growth, the symbolism of roots and branches etc. With a vague idea to create an iris from trunks and roots, I went into the book very open to the idea of shifting directions. As I read each law, however, I could immediately see a way to represent it visually, whether it was through endless branches representing infinite creativity & the law of potentially, or roots resembling the human nervous system to symbolize the energetic connection between ourselves and universe aka The Law of intention and desire. It is my goal through my piece to showcase each law individually while simultaneously displaying the connections between through the roots and branches, all of which come together to form the iris, or rather our perception of true success.

Symbolism of the ego is a theme in my work, represented by the two peacocks, only once the ego is recognized can the true self succeed.

Everything that is alive is an expression of this intelligence. And this intelligence operates through The Seven Spiritual Laws. (This last part of the book in the conclusions really inspired me, it made me look at these seven laws each emitting a different colour of light. I tried to create in a way what came to mind with photography, it wasn't a specific object, it was more like lights cracking through the darkness, but each having different colors.

This passage directly manifested my visual interpretation of Intention & Desire. To project beyond your physical self and into a deeper state of being is the truest layer of self manifestation.  From there the intimacy of touch and scale from the individual to cosmos fell intimately into place.
