Bill Murrays iconic Cinderella Story monologue in "Caddyshack" was entirely improvised. The script read only:

At the last minute, director Harold Ramis made the directorial decision to use MUMS instead of tulips because they would explode into a cloud of petals on impact.

Bill Murray mistakenly signed on to voice Garfield in the film, "Garfield, The Movie", because he thought Joel Coen of the Coen Brothers was directing it. 

Turns out there is another Joel Cohen (spelled with an H), who also directs and writes films. Bill was a good sport and went along with it, even voicing Garfield in the sequel. Garfield was universally panned to which Bill quipped, "But, hey, there's always lasagna." 

During one of the most memorable scenes in the movie Zombieland, Murray is accidentally shot by Columbus (Eisenberg) in the actors home theatre. Abigail Breslin asks Bill, So do you have any regrets? Bill replies, Garfield, maybe.

While filming What About Bob at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, the films costume designer found a shirt at a nearby thrift shop that read, Dont Hassle Me Im Local. 

The original color of the XXL shirt was Magenta Pink, which wouldnt look good on film. She used a Cyan Blue dye to change the shirts color to pop on camera. The rest is film history.

Bill Murray has been known to troll people from time to time, and family is never off-limits. 

Bill's brother, Joel, is a devoted Grateful Dead fan. In the early '80s, the Grateful Dead was playing a concert at Madison Square Garden. Bill called Joel and asked if he wanted to go. Fifteen minutes before the show started, the brothers began their walk to MSG on 96th street. Bill suddenly got the urge to have a beer. Joel begrudgingly agreed. After the beer, Bill said he couldn't go to the concert on an empty stomach and knew a good sushi place around the corner. After that, Bill said sake was in order. Finally, the two made it to Madison Square Garden on 33rd Street. 

To Joel's shock and disbelief, Bill never even acknowledged the arena; he just continued walking past. Bill and Joel walked the streets of New York for hours while Bill pointed out his favorite architecture and obelisks. The concert was long over when Bill said they should stop by the Blues Bar for a final drink. 

Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi owned a late-night blues bar in the city. Bill knocked on the door, and Aykroyd opened it to welcome Bill and Joel. Over Aykroyd's shoulder, Joel could see Bob Weir and the Grateful Dead playing the after-party. Bill had kept his word and got a few laughs at his kid brother's expense.

In October of 2016, Bill Murray showed up at the White House unannounced and crashed the White House Press Briefing Room to predict the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series. 

"I feel very confident. We've got too many sticks." His day wasn't finished there. Bill challenged President Obama to an Oval Office putting contest, which the President accepted. Bill won $5.

It was harder to get into than Fort Knox. The party was in a newish subway line, so it was clean enough. It turned out that the event caterers also worked in the kitchen where we were doing our National Lampoon show. So we snuck in through the kitchen. To make us seem legit, we served ourselves, and with plate in hand, I ran directly into Andy Warhol."

Bill was tongue-tied and couldn't think of anything to say to the legendary artist, so he blurted out, "I love your soup can!" Warhol squinted as if to say, "You don't belong here," and walked away. "It was a magical moment," Bill recalled. Bill and Andy Warhol lived in the same neighborhood in New York, and the two forged a friendship over the years. 

Warhol eventually painted Bill Murray; few know the painting even exists, and its whereabouts are currently unknown. "I could have bought it a couple years back for 50 grand," Bill said, "But buying a painting of yourself? I dunno' Now that soup can. I love the soup can."

I had received all the other critical awards, but when not the Oscar, I realized Oh God, I must have really wanted it or thought I did. It made me sick for about six months.

Bill Murray owns a champagne-colored 1960 Ford Thunderbird. It's his favorite car. In 1995, Bill co-founded a "Thunderbird Owners Club" with his good friend, Sterling Ball. 

To date, they remain the only two members of the club. "It's incredibly exclusive," said Bill. "Plus, we only ever made two t-shirts and two hats."

In 2002, Bill Murray made a cameo appearance in Coffee & Cigarettes with RZA and GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. He played himself disguised as a coffee-chugging waiter.
