The House of Tengu - CAT1A

CAT1A wasnt lucky enough to be born into an elite 0N1 family who got to call the Enclave home. She also wasnt lucky enough to be born into an elite Vents family who got to finance their lives off the misfortune of others.

She smiled as this thought occurred to her. She was joking (at least partially) of course. Her parents were some of the hardest working individuals she knew, and while life was never easy, CAT1As parents never had to worry about their moral compass and what they were teaching their daughter. Work in the Vents for them was always labor intensive and character building.

Which pained CAT1A a little bit, as all of the money she had been bringing home to her parents came from her involvement in the sort of work her parents wouldnt consider character building at all.

The House of Tengu - SELTA

Seltas earliest memory was of fighting a demon for half a loaf of bread. How he won he still had no idea, but as he thought of his life up to this point, there were a lot of instances where he somehow made it through; luck had truly been on his side. He remembered hiding in a broken down train to eat that bread, and how he admired the broken wheels and engine parts strewn all around. In a later memory, he had created a sleeping space in a flycar relic. He had to eventually give the space up to an older, and bigger, street kid, but he remembered popping the hood and taking apart and putting back together both the engine and the levitator component. Though the term home was foreign to him living on the streets, looking back, he was most at home when he was fiddling with vehicles.

The House of Tengu - 51LV3R

It wasnt an easy life for 51LV3R. A shy girl, she rarely spoke, and when she did, it was unfiltered and with no social graces. Politics and politeness were lost on her. If she had something to say, she said it, and because of this, she made very few friends, and lots of enemies. Thankfully, those enemies taught her how to defend herself, and by the time she was a teenager, everyone left her alone. And she was fine with that.

The House of Tengu - KHA05

KHA05 had risen through the tiers of the House of Tengu for both his ruthlessness and his meticulous nature. The House of Tengu was feared and respected because of how its members operated and what they accomplished. It wasnt just those in the Vents who crossed the street when they saw an H.o.T tag on the side of a building. Even the 0N1 elites, despite having more protection than the Emperor himself, shivered at the thought of running into the MasQ Raiders. That reputation hadnt always existed for the House. In fact, for years before KHA05 took the title of Boss, the House was known for its pranks and devilish ploys. While the House of Tengu was known for mischief, it had never been known for mayhem, or mastery of anything, really.

The House of Tengu - OSATO

Years ago, when the House of Tengu was a little known prankster gang, Osato had been a member of the Tigers Den, a gang that, had she been stronger in his resolve and focus at that point in time, he never would have associated with. One evening, as he was leaving one of the gangs safehouses, he got a message from the boss of the Tigers Den saying that any active or past member of the Den needed to go into hiding. After a few lonely days wondering what had happened, he discovered that members of the Den had ended up moving down the path of excessive violence, killing members of an Enclave family in a botched robbery. When the gang gathered to discuss next steps, Osato was horrified to hear that, aside from him, the TIgers Den members showed no remorse, and were more worried about how this would impact their developing relationship with 0ber1n than the killing of innocent 0N1. Osato left the Den, and, upon meeting Kha05 while running an independent job from the local merc market, the Tube, came to understand who Kha05 was, and what the gang he was a part of had done.

When Osato shared his affiliation with the Den those years back, he expected Kha05 to disassociate with him. And yet, the transparency that he provided was exactly what he was looking for to bolster the House of Tengu, the gang that he was hoping to strengthen.

Their relationship had been strong ever since. Osato was open with him, and Kha05 provided the same trust in him. With his parents no longer alive, Kha05, and the House of Tengu, provided the family he needed to feel connected in a very alien world.

The House of Tengu - HANA

Hana learned to take care of himself from a young age. He never knew his parents and was raised by a relative who paid little attention to him. Living in that type of situation was worse than being out on the streets. While he had a roof over his head and enough food to not go hungry, he was theoretically always alone. An extroverted child, he connected to the many gangs of teens in the Vents, always lying about what he had accomplished to better position himself within the group, and at the right moment, siphoning power away from those who held it. He was strong of will, body, and great with weapons, though not strong of character. The problem was that Hanas ploys were so well thought through that nothing bad ever stuck to him.

By the time he had reached adulthood, he was one of the most well-known mercs in the Vents, and also one of the most despised. When you worked with Hana the job was always completed. The problem was, you had to deal with Hana. This was well-known to the man himself, and Hana took pleasure in recognizing that others couldnt stand him. It kept them fearful and uncertain, which allowed Hana to be a better manipulator than he would have been able to be otherwise.

The House of Tengu - C0MM5

Others would have considered C0MM5 lucky for being born into an elite Enclave family. Like many children born into those families though, C0MM5 would have disagreed. His parents close connection with the Emperor meant that they were always on diplomatic missions and at social events, and C0MM5, preferring to socialize via a computer terminal, just wasnt cut out for that type of life. This led to a deepening rift between C0MM5 and his parents, and without siblings to learn from, he became increasingly isolated as he grew up. If not for R0N1, C0MM5 face-to-face interactions with others would have been incredibly limited. I guess he had to thank R0N1 for that.
